DAY 1:
At 6:30, your driver will pick you up at your hotel. We’ll start driving along the Calacali – Nanegalito road with colorful landscapes and ever-changing vistas all the way. Somewhere on the road, we will turn left to the secondary road and drive for about 30 more minutes until we reach Bellavista Lodge, perched on top of the Tandayapa Valley. Once at Bellavista, your guides will greet you and show you your room and facilities before going for breakfast.
It is then time to settle in and meet your guide at an appointed place in the lodge. After a short briefing, your hike will start. Your guide will choose the best trails and hike options according to the group size (no more than 7 hikers) and weather and trail conditions. After about 2 hours of easy and very educative hike, you will be back in the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, your package includes a second forest hike on a different trail. Discover the biodiversity of this mysterious forest before going back to the lodge for dinner and rest. Watch out for a good sighting of the delightful Olinguito, right at the Lodge!
DAY 2:
Today, you have the option (included in your package) to go on an early 6:15 / 6:30 morning bird hike. Your guide will only be focusing on the birds of Bellavista, all around the Lodge. At 8:00, we will serve our special Bellavista breakfast.
Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to enjoy another hike. Perhaps this time you will go and discover our waterfalls along the adventurous Yumbo / Immersion Trail!
We will have lunch at 13:00 and then you will have the option to go and discover the trails on your own, along the self-guided trail or with the help of our trail-map. This will definitely be a highly exciting moment! Otherwise, you can join your a guided hike at 15:00 or just sit and chat with other guests while watching the feeders at close quarters full of hummingbirds of 10-12 different species! Finally, savour a delicious dinner before going to bed.
DAY 3:
Today, enjoy an early morning bird hike. If you are not a birder, just lie down and listen to the awakening of the forest as the sun appears and sets the world in motion. At 8:00, it is time for a delicious breakfast. Then, pick another hike for a discovery of the exuberant forest around the lodge or just relax in our lounge. You can also discuss with your guide for any Day Excursions he may have available for you outside Bellavista!
After a tasty lunch, it is time to buy any souvenirs or extras that you would like to purchase before your departure. At 15:00, your driver will take you back to Quito and drop you at your hotel or at the airport around 17:00.
Note: The hours are approximate except for the pickup hour. Various types of hikes are offered, from leisurely hikes to full-scale adventures! Hiking routes are flexible.
