Note: This tour departs from Baños ONLY!

Located in the Andean Mountains, there is an emerald lagoon, inside the craters of a 3,800-height volcano, named Quilotoa. The drive to the Quilotoa Lagoon displays beautiful views of the Andean mountains and passes the ancient canyon of Zumbahua. We visit the indigenous Zumbahua market (on Saturdays) or the Pujili market (on Thursdays). Our tour crosses the Toachi Canyon; on the way, we can observe several indigenous towns and make a stop to visit an indigenous hut. You have then the opportunity to interact with the inhabitants. Continuing with our tour, we arrive at Quilotoa to start the descent towards the Lagoon, where we can take pictures and do some Kayak (not included in the tour–optional). To come back up there is the option to rent a mule ($10 optional). Later, we make the ascent back to the parking lot and then head towards the restaurant for our lunch. Once our activities are over, we return to Baños.

The tour includes a steep hike down to the Lagoons shore. It is important that you are well prepared for 3,800m, so we recommend acclimatizing at least one day around 3,000m.
